1. What Spanwise accesses
When you install Spanwise, Shopify grants it the read_products and write_products permissions. Spanwise uses them only to read the titles of the products and collections you choose and to save each coverage rule as a metafield on that product or collection, which is what your theme reads. It does not request access to orders, customers, checkouts or any protected customer data.
2. What we store
- Your store's myshopify.com address and the access token Shopify issues to the app, so the app can save your rules.
- The coverage rules you create (for example "1 box = 22.5 sq ft, 10% waste") and the title of the product or collection each applies to.
- Anonymous daily counters per product: how many times the calculator was used, how many times it added to the cart, and how many units it added. No IP address, cookie, device identifier, cart contents, customer ID or other information about the shopper is stored or sent.
- Your plan. Billing is handled by Shopify; we never see your payment details.
Data is stored with Cloudflare (Workers and D1) in the United States and the European Union, and is encrypted in transit.
3. What shoppers' browsers do
The calculator runs entirely in the shopper's browser. The measurements they type are never sent to us. Adding to the cart uses your store's own Shopify cart. The only request sent to Spanwise is the anonymous counter described above (store address, product ID, "used" or "added", quantity).
4. How we use it
Only to run the app for you: to show your rules on your storefront, to show you the analytics page, and to apply your plan's limits. We do not sell, rent or share data with anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.
5. Retention and deletion
Analytics counters are deleted after 400 days. When you uninstall Spanwise, its access token is deleted immediately, and Shopify's shop/redact request 48 hours later deletes every rule and counter we hold for your store. Rule metafields saved on your products stay in your store until you delete them in the app or in Shopify. Because Spanwise holds no customer data, customers/redact and customers/data_request requests have nothing to remove or report; we still acknowledge them and can confirm this to you by email.
6. Your rights
You can ask us at any time to export or delete the data we hold for your store, wherever you are (including under the GDPR and CCPA). Email us from the address on your Shopify account and we will answer within 30 days.
7. Changes
If a future version changes what Spanwise collects, we will update this page and change the date above before that version is released.
8. Data Processing Addendum
For personal data your store processes through Spanwise, you (the merchant) are the controller and Dixon App Studio is the processor. OurShopify Apps Data Processing Addendumsets out the purposes, sub-processors (Cloudflare and Shopify), retention, security measures, breach notice and Standard Contractual Clauses, and forms part of ourTerms of Service. You accept it by installing or using Spanwise.
